B-BBEE Consulting and Verification Assurance Audits
RockSolid Consulting (Pty) Ltd
Our practice has an Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) accredited B-BBEE verification agent. Our practice has been involved with B-BBEE verification and accreditation since May 2012. We have made a strategic decision to re-brand this division of our business; with effect from 1 April 2014, all our B-BBEE certification and accreditation will be channeled through a separate company - RockSolid Consulting (Pty) Ltd.
RockSolid Consulting has a common directorship with Colenbrander Incorporated.
B-BBEE is an abbreviation of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment. It is legislation introduced by government to balance the skills and socio-economic status of all South Africans. In December 2011, this legislation came into effect, stating that all government suppliers are required to have a B-BBEE certificate. B-BBEE is essentially a 'buyers club', if you have a B-BBEE certificate, then your customers can claim points when calculating their B-BBEE score.
What does it mean to you / your client?
Due to the pressure that government is placing on their suppliers, there will be a trickle-down effect that results in greater pressure for businesses to become compliant.
What are the advantages of being rated?
Obtaining your B-BBEE certificate allows you to gain a competitive advantage in the market place. The lack of a certificate may exclude you from contracts, tenders and other business opportunities. B-BBEE rating process can assist your company in identifying and developing skills in human resources, which will lead to greater efficiency and productivity.
Does one need to be proactive?
Yes, it is essential that one begins to look at their current status, and any progress that they may wish to make. Increasing your B-BBEE points can be a time consuming process and one would not like to lose future business opportunities due to lack of planning.

Time to certification?
Again, this is dependent on complexity of the organization. Generally, it can be done within a short period time, provided all the necessary and appropriate information is supplied.
In a nutshell, how do I get certified?
- An initial assessment needs to be done to determine what your needs are and the complexity of the organization.
- We will then give you a quote and a list of the information that you will be required to provide us.
- Once you have gathered all the information, we will then do the audit and a site visit at your office.
- We will then issue you with a B-BBEE certificate, which is valid for a year.
